Tidal Current Energy Resources Assessment in the Patinti Strait, Indonesia

نویسندگان

چکیده

Indonesia is currently intensively developing its renewable energy resource and targets at least 23% by 2025. As an archipelago country, has the potential to benefit from abundant resources offshore regions. However, short tidal range of mixed semi-diurnal suitable turbine capacity may hinder marine development in Indonesian waters. This paper presents higher-order hydrodynamic numerical models provide spatial information for current assessment Patinti Strait. The present study applied hydrographic oceanographic method produce input model. Based on selected simulation analysis, highest speed could be identified around Sabatang Saleh Kecil Island with up 2.5 m/s P1 1.7 P4. Besides, operational hours two observation points are 69% 74.5%, respectively. results indicate that this location prime interest implementation as source, medium (300 kW) high (1 MW).

New research in tidal current energy.

In order to meet our aspiration for energy security, reducing dependence on finite and polluting fossil fuels and to combat climate change, we need to exploit as many of the available natural and sustainable resources within our planet as possible. The oceans, which cover more than two-thirds of our planet, offer an incredible store of energy. One of the forms of energy within our oceans is tha...

Tidal Current Energy Resources off the South and West Coasts of Korea: Preliminary Observation-Derived Estimates

In this study we estimate the prospective tidal current energy resources off the south and west coasts of Korea and explore the influence of modeling tidal current energies based on 15-day versus month-long data records for regimes with pronounced perigean/apogean influences. The tidal current energy resources off southern and western Korea were calculated using 29-day in situ observation data ...

The Makassar Strait Tsunamigenic Region, Indonesia

The Makassar Strait region has had the highest frequency of historical tsunami events for Indonesia. The strait has a seismic activity due to the convergence of four tectonic plates that produces a complex mixture of structures. The main tsunamigenic features in the Makassar Strait are the Palu-Koro and Pasternoster transform fault zones, which form the boundaries of the Makassar trough. Analys...
